Hmm I will need to see it again but the last stream on the TV looked like it was lagging but may of been me. This is very interesting though as I think it will set both Microsoft and Sony to force there hand with PsNow and Xstream.

x_xavier_x1900d ago (Edited 1900d ago )

I was part of the Google game streaming test program a few months ago which featured Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I was skeptical but came away super impressed with the technology. No lag, no frame drops, 1080p at 30fps on a low end PC with a mediocre internet connection.

SCW19821900d ago

How was the input latency?

Twinblade1900d ago

of course you will be impressed, just wait until millions and millions of gamers trying to play the same games and starts lagging the servers.

x_xavier_x1900d ago

@SCW1982

I don't have any hard numbers on the latency but I would say undetectable.

jeromeface1900d ago

I have a high end pc with a 100 megabit connection and the latency was horrible. YRMV

i will never support any non-physical gaming platform ...for me is a NO even before i see what it plays......also ive said it multiple times and i will say it once more ----we need to see what support they will get from Japan ....Because No Japan (games) =No party =DOA

Lennoxb631900d ago

Not having Japanese is not going to be the death of any platform/console. That's a reach. I'm sure it may have some but you seem to forget that some of the biggest, most popular games aren't Japanese.

demonicale1900d ago

So you're an old person who wants to stay in the stone age. People like you are the problem with society!

Abriael1900d ago (Edited 1900d ago )

The one moment in which performance seemed pretty bad to me is indeed when it got on the TV, and the scene with the eagle seems to have a lower frame rate on cursory observation.

But to be fair it might be just the fact that the footage was filmed with a camera and streamed at 30 FPS. Hard to say.

porkChop1900d ago

Hmm. Could be. It's hard to record TVs, the frames get out of sync and it looks weird.

ssmilloy361900d ago

input lag looks high. seconds not ms

Tech51900d ago (Edited 1900d ago )

duplicate post.

DillyDilly1900d ago

They already have pretty good options with Remote Play. But that is still dependent on having actual Systems turned on. If they can take that next step where we wont need a System but just an account & all of our Digital games. Theres something there

Sony and Nintendo have nothing to worry about. The games they produce are second to none. Microsoft will be shitting a brick after seeing this lol.

princejb1341900d ago

google will have to rely on third party developers same as MS at the beginning of this gen. How did that turn out for them?

Atom6661900d ago

All 3 will be fine, but there is plenty for them all to keep an eye on.

A controller and a dongle is suddenly capable of those high end 3rd party games not available on a $300 Switch.

PS Now doesn't have brand new releases, nor is it available at these resolutions/frame rates, or on all devices.

Xcloud is completely untested and appears to utilize Xb1s's., which aren't capable of 1080p/60fps natively, let alone through stream. Forza and Halo won't be enough to attract the streaming market (if that's a thing).

So while I doubt any of them are shitting bricks (Google's work isn't exactly a secret here), they would all do well to not ignore Google imo.

1900d ago
King_Noctis1900d ago

Unless Google have a dozen of first party studios like MS, I don’t think MS have anythingto worry about. Plus, let not pretend like MS is abandoning physical hardware anytime soon.

Tech51900d ago

the results are pretty good, running up to 60fps. XBL and PSNow Could offer the same.
personally though, I prefer owning my games and hardware.

The_Sage1900d ago

I was completely blowing this off... Now... I see they're serious.

The_Sage1900d ago

I guess there are people that disagree that they are serious... I'll stick with PlayStation myself, but it is obvious that Google is serious about carving themselves a spot in the gaming market. Will they take Microsoft's spot?..

ApocalypseShadow1900d ago (Edited 1900d ago )

It's impressive for a cash grab technology. They definitely were watching Ready Player One in coming up with something similar without the vr part.

But, Developers will most likely be expected to pay to have their games hosted on Google's servers.

Cash.

Advertisers will most likely have to pay to market products to you on YouTube through these lol. .."creators."

Cash.

And gamers are what? Expected to pay $60 or so or whatever for games they don't own and don't download? Or are gamers paying monthly to play everything but own nothing?

Cash.

Yeah. No. Even digital downloads have a hint of ownership. This is basically paying for nothing. An impressive nothing.

TheHateTheyGive1900d ago

Thats been xboxones whole strategy this gen, xboxone lives and thrives off the 3rd parties hard work. I hope google succeeds and makes some exclusives. The gamepass that xboxone has is going to chase off 3rd parties because again microsoft profits off their work, so much that they lierally give away gamepass for free or a buck for 3 months.

EmperorDalek1900d ago

And PSNow doesn't have third party games? Sony doesn't make money off third party game sales? What a bunch of nonsense. They have a stronger first party line up, but they make money of third party developers just like Microsoft.

Developers choose to put their games on game pass, they get paid for it. They usually choose to put them there because they think it make more money for them than if they don't. Game pass is a good option, in that case. It's just common sense. And again, Sony does the same with PSNow.

ApocalypseShadow1900d ago (Edited 1900d ago )

Emperor, this will be different. All these developers aren't going to be paid by Google to put their games there. If Google is hosting the content on their servers, developers will be paying Google for the privilege of being on there for as long as they can keep paying.

Google basically wants to be in the middle collecting checks from all angles. The Hate is right. Even with 1st party, Microsoft wants to do the same thing as Google. Others do the work, they sit back and collect.

And what's going to happen is the same glut we see on Steam and Android. Tons of games that you have to sift through to find a good one. Or supposedly, we're supposed to play the top games based on YouTube personalities top picks. Which is even more ridiculous.

CDbiggen1900d ago

Google is just a soulless money making machine. They want everything and can afford to get anything.

Can FSR 3 frame generation deliver the 120fps dream on PS5 and Xbox?

Frame generation technology has arrived on consoles, amplifying frame-rates and potentially transforming experiences.

adds between 8.3-15.3 milliseconds of latency on the game they tested, - no thanks

darksky6h ago

Base latency is 130.8ms and frame gen takes that up to 139.1ms. A 7% increase in latency is hardly a deal breaker.

Zenzuu6h ago

That's hardly a deal breaker and not really noticeable. Even the folks at Digital Foundry said so as well.

darthv721d ago

Impressive results... sadly I don't have a 120hz display. I was thinking this technique could increase fps on any game that supports it regardless of the display.

purple1011d ago (Edited 23h ago)

I have a vrr telly in the lounge,

On another point, what if it were the other way around where the developer aims for higher fps, then used something like pssr to make the resolution higher, that might be better?

Any which way, PS5 pro sure looks interesting now, being they have already doubled frame rate, with JUST just this fsr3.0

sagapo5h ago

It’s up to dev’s to implement FSR 3 support tho but most probably will I guess (hope).

andy856h ago

Now I've extensively tried it I'm not too fussed about 120 fps. Give me a locked 60 and more details and I'm more than happy

anast1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

120 is a bit slow. My eyes can't look at anything less than 260fps.

i didnt even know there was a leak ha.

Profchaos7h ago

Wasn't a short detailed leak about 12 hours prior it was hey there's going to be a astro bot a VR game and a few other things specified but massively underwhelming leak tbh

Goodguy011d 5h ago

Was it really worth it? Oof

Profchaos7h ago

For this state of play not at all

Relientk771d 2h ago

This is news to me. I had no idea the games from the State of Play got leaked.

Jin_Sakai18h ago

I seen the list posted and instantly got excited for Astro Bot. Everything else was meh.

CrimsonWing6918h ago

I’m pretty sure leaks or not, by the end of the show people will still be disappointed. The only highlight for me was MH: Wilds… everything else was mid to forgettable. Hope them HaaS games you got lined up really work out for you, Sony. Everyone asking for Bloodborne Remake, Wolverine, and, uh, well other games like that could’ve made this epic. Instead we get Concord, some derivative Souls-like games, that were fine looking, and a Silent Hill 2 Remake with horrible character designs and janky combat animations… great.

rayford1518h ago

I wasn’t disappointed it was a solid B

TOTSUKO15h ago

For a State of play it was actually alright. People are overshadowing it because they want to cancel Sony to high hell for Gaas which is not fair for the other devs who revealed great looking games that were just shown. I get it you don’t like gaas don’t buy it. If it sells well good for the people who had interest no big deal? If you are a PlayStation fan what’s wrong with PlayStation trying to cater every gamer? I don’t understand that smh

ravens5217h ago

Where Winds Meet and Ballad of Antara both looked good. Not to mention Astro Bot. It was a decent show. For me personally it was a 7. I'm sure to some people it was actually really good cause they'd play all those games. 🤷🏽 Personal taste

MrNinosan15h ago

I wasn't dissapointed.
And no, everyone doesn't want a Bloodborne Remake. There is probably very few who's actually asking for it, but the ones who do are loud on internet.

CrimsonWing6915h ago(Edited 15h ago)

Oh, my mistake. It’s definitely not one of the most requested games when it comes to remakes with news stories talking about it 🙄

https://comicbook.com/gamin...

https://www.gamingbible.com...

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/...

https://gamerant.com/fromso...

Silly me. It’s just a very few that are actually wanting it…

MrNinosan8h ago

@CrimsonWings69
And you just proved what I wrote.

If Bloodborne was remestered or remade, it would still sell less than Final Fantasy XVI or VII Rebirth, probably be called a great succes from it's core fans, but most wouldn't care.

I love Bloodborne, I want a new release of it, but it's niche and has sold crap compared to most of Playstation Studios bigger titles.

Astro Bot will sell and mean more to Playstation than a Bloodborne Remake.
