Fallout 76 looks more like a glorified battle royale game and we are concerned

The truth is that enough ppl will buy this, and enough of them will get hooked that it will be worth it. I have friends that spend $100/month on ESO and others much more. It’s a really good mmo, but it’s all they have played since it’s release.
This is what they are aiming for because the amount made from micros squashes the amount made from selling a game one time to 10x as many ppl.

And I will bet you will even be able to buy skill card packs.

Agreed, I waited years to play F4 and was disappointed when I played it. It just didn't have that same impact as 3 or New Vegas had.

And even though I'm still interested in '76, I'm not as pumped as I could have been because 4 was terrible and this seems to be a MMO type game that's a prequel to the past games.

I'm really surprised that I had to scroll this far down into the comments section to see someone question Fallout 76's relationship to that of battle royale. To add to your point, Bethesda already said it's not going to be a free for all:

“It is important to note this is not just a full on PvP game,” Hines explained. “Where you get in the world and everyone shoots everyone. It’s more like a challenge to another player.”

Hines added that "you can’t just let things go unfettered." What specific limitations or systems will Bethesda put in place to keep players from ruining the game for one another? Some of the specifics are still taking shape, but Hines confirmed a few: you won't lose progress or loot when you die to another player for instance, and you can respawn far away if you don't want to get caught in a ganking loop. But if you do want to get your hands dirty “there is a revenge thing you can opt into and try to go head-to-head.”

All that basically means is that the primary game focus will be on online coop experience.
If you wish to play the game entirely solo you will have difficulty with many game mechanics. They wont be impossible to accomplish however - the game content isnt geared towards traditional single player experience.

The same idea behind the Anthem. Like it or not that's the approach Bethesda has with Fallout 76.
Personally, that's not my cup of tea.

Didnt read the article, but it's a co-op game with the option to PVP. Not a PvP game with the option to co op. You have to proposition someone to PVP otherwise you do severely decreased damaged to the person, and then get a bounty put on your head as long as they don't attack you. Honestly I don't like co op games. I do like PvP games with the option to co op, but as far as Bethesda has said this is not that.

So everyone who plays ESO knows that the game is rotten to the core? The assumption made here is laughable. Next part crates offer cosmetics, mounts, and pets... So, not a ton that affects gameplay? Now If I do remember correctly since it has been a long while since I played the crates do come with items that make your mounts faster allowing you to travel faster but that isnt even stated, and only someone who plays would know that.

Also complaining that new content costs money is kind of astonishing. Unless otherwise stated almost every games new content costs money. In what scenario are we defaulting that new content will be free? When has the DLC will be free overtaken the amount of DLC is paid for scenarios? I also have a problem with someone wearing COD clothing complaining about being charged for all DLC and basically game after game that is relatively the same.

seems kind of the new click bait formula to say *insert game with online feature* is battle royale. I dont think the writer has seen anything on FO76 that the general public hasnt already and nothing screams battle royale to me. Also they've said before that DLC expansions will be free. And "heavy" micro transactions are all cosmetic. I have put a lot of hours into games in the same vein, and enjoyed and hated them in equal measure. If the balance is right, it'll be great for fans of the genre.

Bethesda are the most overrated developers on the planet as it is...their gameplay is just awful. The combat in fallout and Skyrim is gross. Plus the animations are embarassing. Rough games to play. Poor RPG's, Poor combat...but the maps sure are big.....

A sizable group of people have been asking for/modding multiplayer in Fallout for years. But I (and a huge group) said we didn't want MP in our traditional Fallout game. A spin-off multiplayer Fallout game seems like the best way to appease both groups. If you wanted MP Fallout buy it if you didn't want MP Fallout don't.
