Now ... are we all happy ?! Fallout 5, SP, no online ... yeeeh

Can't wait to try Fallout 76 !

BiggerBoss2162d ago

Can't wait for Fallout 5!

Not really interested in 76 tbh...

chris2352162d ago

not really. because fallout 4 was a really bad game. boring asf. and zero ambiente. rip fallout.

Eidolon2162d ago

Thank god there's hit detection and not something like ESO where you just aim in the general direction.

-Foxtrot2162d ago

Good because if there's any trace of multiplayer or co-op in the main games people would riot. This is only getting a small amount of backlash because people can easily dismiss it as a spin off, it's still a huge shame though they wasted time on this considering how long it takes them to do these games, people would rather have had "New Vegas 2"

Vegamyster2162d ago

The main studios focus is Starfield which has been in rumored for years now and we have no idea how large in scale it'll be given it's a next gen game with TeS 6 following behind it, Fallout 76 is being co-developed with their Austin studio so i doubt the main studio is spending too much time on given a lot of the assets were already made. Just because it's a multiplayer spin off doesn't mean it's a waste of time, this type of game is a blast when its done correctly, as of right now we just need to see some more.

PS Dying Light had online co-op and it was a great to play & complete quests with friends, the quests are linear but that doesn't mean it couldn't be done in a mainline Bethesda game where the choices are still in the hands of the host.

-Foxtrot2162d ago

If Todd Howard is going to come onto the stage and talk about it then I feel like despite being a co developer they are still wasting time they could be wasting elsewhere, it's a big part of the development team.

Look at the Elder Scrolls Online, it's a spin off, an online one but they never bothered to get someone like Todd Howard up on the stage to show the game off, they left that to the actual developer.

Mulletino2162d ago (Edited 2162d ago )

I wouldn’t mind trudging through the world of elder scrolls for ES6 with a few buddies. Nothing “massively multiplayer” though.

Vegamyster2162d ago

We don't know how much the main studio is involved, Todd Howard coming up on stage to hype a Fallout spinoff coming out this year doesn't really mean anything, what else was he going to show?

Using the Two Tomb Raider reboots as an example, people were upset that the first game had weak MP and figured those resources were better off on the SP portion, the 2nd game had no MP but it considered by most to be a slightly inferior game, we without information can't say what is and isn't wasted.

zeuanimals2162d ago

Well, they're gonna have to implement it much better than Dying Light. Dying Light had a story, I think? But Fallout has factions, diverging quest lines, etc. And they're gonna have to figure out how they're all gonna mingle in co-op if they do go that route with Fallout 5.

And if they do go that route, I'm out. They've lost me as customers since they can't seem to get the basic RPG experience right and each of their games gets dumbed down more and more in favor of more casual friendly systems. If the new game gets co-op, that means they're gonna devote even less time to the RPG aspects and to the diversity of choices.

But eso cant be compared to 76. Eso is a traditional mmo (which is one of the most popular on the market right now). 76 is an online fallout that a lot of people have been waiting for. Im finally going to give fallout a go and explore that huge open world with some close friends. Its going to be amaze balls.

BiggerBoss2162d ago

If you really haven't given Fallout a go before this, then I seriously suggest checking out at least New Vegas and Fallout 4. 4 was disappointing in a lot of ways, but has the newest mechanics. New Vegas is just great all around.

ShottyatLaw2162d ago

Oh FFS, nobody will riot. I've waited years for a MP Fallout.

Unplug your mic and pretend you're still blissfully alone if you want to play. Or play one of the thousands of other SP games on the market.

BiggerBoss2162d ago

Damn, I forgot that turning my mic off in ESO turns it into the Elder Scrolls 6!

Oh wait, it DOESN'T.

ShottyatLaw2162d ago

ESO? Isn't that the online only spinoff to a long running SP-Only RPG series that recently hit 10 million players?

MuddyWaters2162d ago

"If Todd Howard is going to come onto the stage and talk about it then I feel like despite being a co developer they are still wasting time they could be wasting elsewhere, it's a big part of the development team."

Who are you to tell them how to run their company? Just because we both share the opinion we'd rather have an offline experience with Fallout does not mean they can't try something different. Should I be upset I can no longer play Killzone online and they went a different direction? All you are arguing about is what you want and little to no care about what the game maker wants. We have Starfield coming, Fallout 5, Elder Scrolls VI but all you want to do in between is complain about this game?

It's like you just sit there at home and go, "nope, don't like that. Nope this isn't good. Nope, this is not what I would do."

doggo842162d ago

Don't know why you're getting disagrees. Who wanted an online fallout in any case? NO ONE That's who. Ignore the haters. Fallout fans especially were not anticipating an online fallout

ShottyatLaw2162d ago

I did. Been waiting for years.

Surprised at the dislikes, I guess newer Fallout fans like this kinda stuff. I guess I'm old fashioned!

-Foxtrot2162d ago

Meh...it's just people hoping Fallout 76 is going to be amazing because it's Bethesda that's all.

Same happened with Destiny, the Division, Ghost Recon Wildlands and even Sea of Thieves in the very early days...if you came out and said something like "why are they doing online and focusing on it" you'd be disagreed to death because people want to keep hoping it'll be good.

LordJamar2162d ago

"People would rather have had "New Vegas 2""

People is a very general term. Im a person, and don't mind they're doing Fallout 76.

doggo842162d ago

So you'd take fallout online as opposed to fallout new Vegas 2?

Wow, I don't want to live on this planet anymore

BadElf2161d ago (Edited 2161d ago )

@doggo84 no, I cant say that either. I would have loved a Fallout New Vegas 2. But, THIS is whats releasing...and I'm intrigued by it. I could sit here and complain about what they SHOULD have made, because "people didn't want this"....but I'd rather not. I'm ready to play Fallout

Can they decide what they want with this game, is it multiplayer pvp or single player, can't be both.

-Foxtrot2162d ago

They are trying to please everyone with PR talk...it's an online focused game that will be shit if played by yourself, they won't say it but history shows us with other multiplayer focused titles like Destiny, the Division or Sea of Theives even though the developer says it's single player and you can play solo it's terrible doing it that way.

-T9X-69-2162d ago

Sea of Thieves was the only title I felt like it couldn't be played Solo. As in (you could) but it would be a complete bore feast along with griefing. Destiny didn't even have PVP intertwined within its open world or missions. It was separate. As with The Division. So how are going to say it's going to be shit by itself when 2/3 of the titles you listed were not? Were they amazing SP experiences like people expected? No, but they were still enjoyable. We've seen a compilation of maybe 4-5 minutes of actual gameplay from a map 4x the size of Fallout 4 and you've already formed a negative opinion that it's going to be shit.

I mean, if that's how you decide what games to play and write them off so quickly, more power to you I guess.

-Foxtrot2162d ago (Edited 2162d ago )

Dude playing the Division and Destiny by yourself is a bore fest, the games are lacking in content in general when you are playing online with people so playing by yourself when you don't have people to add some replay value to the game is terrible.

Fallout 76 is no different, it's an online focused game which is trying to please both crowds with PR talk so more people will buy it. With the interviews and the like Bethesda has given us and what they've said about Fallout 76 it seems they don't even know themselves what they are going for with the game.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

-T9X-69-2162d ago

Maybe TO YOU. But YOU don't speak for everyone. Again, I never said or acted like those 2 titles were some amazing AAA SP titles. They were good. Not great, not mind blowing, but good. A 7/10 if that makes it more understandable to you? If that 7/10 SP experience is worth $60 is completely subjective, but don't act like those 2 titles were forcing PVP on you like Sea of Thieves did. Not to mention SoT didn't have any systems in place (at launch, not sure about now) to prevent griefing.

Again, this game is 4x the size of Fallout 4. You opinions, examples and logic are not lining up with one another. They've done plenty of interviews all echoing the same sentiment while still trying not to reveal too much just yet. This genre has grown over the years, they're doing the right thing by doing a beta. I don't know how you think they don't know themselves what they're doing with the game. The only thing they said they're really still tinkering with is preventative systems for griefing. Everything else has been pretty clear. They don't need PR talk to sell this. It's Fallout dude and regardless of how much you hate online (or the online survival genre), millions of people do.

People on here freaking out and thinking they know everything about the game and how its going to work and play out are the minority. Fallout 4 just came out 2 1/2 years ago. It also has mod support on consoles. There's replay value for YEARS if YOU WANT IT.

-Foxtrot2162d ago

Look I don't even know what else to say, it's clear you'll defend those lacking online multiplayer games regardless. If you honestly think games like Destiny had a lot to offer when it came out then I'm out of things to discuss.

Whatever you want to think man, free country. So just...chill.

-T9X-69-2162d ago (Edited 2162d ago )

I'm not defending it. I'm just telling you the flaws in your logic and statements. I'm more of a single players and co-op kinda guy these days, but I don't hate online multiplayer. I do however really enjoy Bethesda's games they put out. So when they announce something like Fallout and it has online. I'm trying to watch everything and learn the most about the game. You saying they don't even know what they want from the game is just flat out false. You're misinformed and didn't do enough research. You're entitled to your opinion, it's just a bit ignorant to speak so much about a game you haven't done all your research on and spewing that opinion as if it's a fact. So if you had all the correct information, maybe you would see things differently. Not just with this game, but with games in general.

Perfect example is you speaking of ESO above in a different comment. You don't understand why Todd doesn't speak on ESO but does for Fallout 76. You're saying its a waste of time, but that is also false. It wasn't co-developed by Bethesda. You can even visit the official Elder Scrolls Online website. No where will you see or read the words "Bethesda Games Studio". It doesn't exist because they didn't work on the game. Todd is at BGS. BGS is developing Fallout 76. Thus Todd speaks about a game HE'S actually working on. It's not defending it. I'm supplying you with the information to show you why you're argument is incorrect.

Days Gone Director Says Bend's Project Costs Over $250M; Says PS Co-CEO Doesn't Want 2 Zombies Games

Days Gone director claims Sony has already poured in at least a $250M in Bend's project; says Days Gone sold more than Death Stranding.

shinoff218320h ago

Well that sucks. Seems they want more online trash. I'd rather of had the sequel if it was single player

MrNinosan6h ago

What online trash games did PS Studios release last 10 years?

Notellin4h ago

The past has nothing to do with the future. This is such a terrible argument. Everyone knows about their current live service push.

_SilverHawk_3h ago

It's so tragic what happened to days gone. It is such an amazing game but bandwagoners trashed it and it underperformed in it's launch year. Days gone is the best open world zombie game released in the past five years. I was recently playing it on pc and I'm still amazed by it.

Games are very expensive to make and it seems like it's normal for a AAA game to cost over a quarter billion to make so if a quality game like days gone greatly underperforms then people shouldn't be upset when they see a lot of GAAS. I still remember a lot of bandwagoners calling days gone trash but years later it's now amazing when it's considered a failure by sony.

If a game isn't the best thing seen since hats with pockets then a lot of gamers who haven't played it automatically calls it rubbish and whoever made it should be incarcerated

Cacabunga1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Co CEO prefers gamers to boycott.. so be it. I’ll never buy a gaas.
Just imagine buying a game you cannot replay in some years.. this shit must stop.

Days Gone did zombies in a very original way. The story was also so engaging. You actually only meet Zombie hordes later in the game. There are many more enemy groups to deal with.

MrNinosan22m ago

@Notelin
I am one of the few who bought Days Gone on release day and loved it completely.
However, "more online trash" is phrased like Sony has put out alot of trash online games.
We got what, 2 games? Helldivers 2 and GT7, 2 of the most sold Playstation games where both is loved by millions.

You, me and especially shinoff has no idea if Fairgames, Marathon and Concord will be trash.

Just because we (as in you and me) don't love or support online games, doesn't mean millions of other do.

And we don't know what Bend Studio is working with? We don't know if they're forced to make a online game or another amazing single player experience.

The only thing we do know is that it's not Days Gone, sadly due to poor sales the first 6 months.

It would be a shame if it was true that Hermen never gave the franchise a chance simply because he didn't like it and they already had a "Zombie" game with TLOU.

NaughtyDog are most likely moving onto a new IP next so it would have been the perfect time to do it.

ThinkThink12h ago

Here's where xbox steps in and releases state of decay 3 day and date on ps5.

Grilla5h ago

Days gone 2 was canceled before Herman was in charge. That happened like 4 years ago.

vfl5235h ago

4 years ago he was head of Playstation Studios. He would've probably had a hand in the cancelation.

Notellin4h ago

Man two seconds of research could have saved you from this comment. Amazing work Grilla you fit in with the uniformed N4G community who speaks before verifying anything that they say.

Redemption-643h ago

Maybe encourage people to buy the game at full price and not when it's heavily discounted or go on plus. If this game had sold well when it was full priced a sequel would have been in the works. They made a single-player game that most people didn't support until they dropped the price.

Cacabunga1h ago

The guy’s just a moron.. he should have stayed within game development. His choices will have a terrible impact on the brand in the long run.

Yep. Kind of weird since it wasn't a sales flop, no?

I know we have to take what Ross says with a grain of salt since we're hearing just one side of the story, but even so, the game wasn't bad at all. Heck, it's my brother's favorite last-gen game from what I recall.

The amount of zombies on screen, imagine that with the PS5 and SSD? That would be insanely fun!

Grilla5h ago

Most copies were sold on sale. Not enough ppl bought it at full price. I paid 20$ for it 6 -7 months after release.

Notellin4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Yeah we should never believe the creators side until we hear the corporate/big business side as history has shown we should always believe billion dollar corporations.

What a bootlicker statement.

P_Bomb6h ago

Well I don’t want 10 live service games, but they have no problem doing that lol. Ugh.

CrimsonWing695h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Oh great so we only get what the big wigs want… y’know, the people that really have their fingers on the pulse of what their consumers want. Faaaaantastic!

rippermcrip3h ago

Well consider they know the sales... they do know what the consumer wants.

It sold shit.
