Kingdom Come Deliverance Runs @ 1440p on XB1X Slightly Enhanced GI & Particles; 1080p on PS4 Pro

Warhorse confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the upcoming medieval first-person RPG, will run at 1440p resolution on Xbox One X compared to PS4 Pro's 1080p. Xbox One X will also have a slight advantage when it comes to Global Illumination and particle effects simulation.

Pygmelion , ya it underperformed, but it wasnt less powerful. But that was due to unfamilar architecture. 360 was also rushed which resulted in rrod.

Ps4 and xbox were the same architecure and ps4 ran games better for cheaper or the same price.

Xb1x runs games better for more money.

This time however the difference is a bit more than "marginal", even though the Xbox One X, much touted to be the "true 4K" system, fails again to live up to its promise. But then again so does the PS4Pro in this case. Xbox One was crap because it almost never did 1080p and the PS4 almost always did, it was cheaper and it came out a week or two before the Xbox One. The Xbox One X is obviously more powerful than the PS4 Pro but it took an extra year and an extra $100 to do it. When the PS4 beat the Xbox One it was $100 cheaper and reached the market first.

Well pro hardly hits the 4k mark and it used the same asserts as the base x1 and ps4. Let's see here the x hits 4k a good 75% of the time and has much higher res assetts and effect settings than the base units and the pro. Also let's face facts, the fund player built into it parents the extra 100 by it's self. If they made a unit without the kid player MS would be able to match the 400 price of the pro more than likely. However if you've got a 4k tv you probably want to play 4k movies that aren't truly 4k because you're streaming compressed packets that are close to 4k but not exactly there. Oh wait you Sony fanboys refill accept almost now don't ya.
I was fine with my almost 1080p x1, it was y'all that said almost wasn't good enough. Well now ya got a ton of almost 4k games and almost/kinda 4k videos. Congrats, now who's just settling?! Guess that money ya spent on that 4k tv was worth all that almost

I'd like to be optimistic and say the resolutions are low because they prioritized 60fps, but I don't think that's the case. Guess it's the PC version for me. Hopefully, if it is 30fps on consoles, it stays locked at least. Game looks pretty cool though, can't wait to try it.

it depends on the game . no matter what hardware has been created a developer can always make a game more demanding, that's why all first party games are native 4k and everything else varies form 4k to 1440p to dynamic resolution and checkerboarding.

MS was super misleading. One X is performance-wise in line with an RX 580 or GTX 1060 on PC. And no PC owner with those GPUs would claim they had a "true" 4K rig. Sure 4K is possible at that performance level...but it's breaking one hell of a sweat. The reality is most demanding One X games won't be 4K, and many that are will need to resort to checkerboarding like the Pro. One X is still the fastest console on the block and will run lots of things at higher resolutions than the competition, but it isn't the 4K beast that MS marketing claimed it would be, and the full-fledged 4K era won't be til next gen.

The hardware COULD run Vulkan but the Xbox One does not support Vulkan. They only use DirectX 11/12, and a console specific low-level DirectX.

Exactly, as Aenea said they don't use Vulkan on PS4 either. PS4 uses GNM and GNMX while Xbox One uses DirectX 12. Porting to GNM was probably really easy since it's related to Vulkan, DirectX might have been slightly harder, potentially explaining the performance issues the Xbox One versions of both DOOM and Wolfenstein 2 faced even when running at lower resolutions. Even the X version doesn't run as well as you'd expect given it has the fastest CPU in terms of clock speed and dynamic resolution scaling should ensure that resolution will always be dropped to maintain 60fps. Despite that its framerate is never really more consistent than the PS4 or PS4 Pro despite the clear hardware advantage of the X, which makes me think it's related to porting from Vulkan to DirectX.

This is a relatively small development team (less than 100 people) for such an ambitious project, they probably don't have the resources to get more out of the X and Pro.

PS. GI, shadows, lighting and LOD are not assets, they are effects and if you actually did read the article the Pro version has those too but slightly less nice GI

Fact remains tho that if the 2 base consoles are both 900p with no differences even tho there's a 40% power difference and the mid-gen consoles can't do better than 1080p and 1440p that the devs didn't exactly go all out on supporting any of the consoles!

Do people even read the article? The developers choose for better graphics instead resolution on both consoles, thats why it is 1080p on PS4 Pro and 1440p on Xbox One. But only 900p on the original Xbox One and PS4, thats already a bump for the better consoles. As a PS4 Pro owner playing on 1080 TV i am glad if developers focus on better graphics instead resolutions, and also that they push the base hardware more so they run in 900p.
