Peter Moore of EA: Our Games Will be Delayed Because of Pokemon Go

Peter Moore, the COO of EA Sports, took to Twitter today to joke that Pokemon GO will cause game delays for the company due to the fact that all of its developers are playing the game instead of working.

I remember many devs saying their own games development is hampered when BloodBorne was released.

Everyday you just hear more news of how it merits Pokemon Go's popularity.

There are tons of fake clickbait Pokemon GO news masquerading as real news, though. You know... coming from the kind of site that has a bunch of "Doctors HATE her" ads at the bottom of the page...

I've seen news of Pokemon GO causing car accidents and crowds of Pokemon GO players blocking highways. Many were debunked as being fake as hell. All using pictures/footage from protests in Baton Rouge or accidents that occurred in 2014, etc...

Legitimate truth in here though. When Google had their Pacman Search Bar their recordeducation play time calculator averaged over 1 billion dollars in revenue waste from people playing it instead of working. I mean, it's not that catastrophic, but still interesting numbers.

Oh yeah I know. Characters from Snatcher were taken from Blade Runner and the Snatchers themselves were modeled after the T-1000's from the Terminator. The two main characters from Policenauts were modeled after the characters from Lethal Weapon.

Actually Hideo Kojima stated that he designed Old Snake after Lee Van Cleef in an interview around the time it came out in 2008.

Lol I know,.that was the joke. And as a huge movie fan I would say that Ocelots character more so is a spoof of Lee Van Cleef considering their similarities.

Kojima is a huge movie buff and lots of his characters and themes are based on famous movies. Like Hal Emmerich being named after the supercomputer HAL from Space Odyssey 2001.

Lol that is why Mass Effect was delayed somebody did not break off a piece of a kit Kat bar for a co-worker and a huge dispute has been brewing and they delayed the development to settle the dispute.

Pokemon Go is awful for the industry. It's not even a good game, it's mobile, yet it's making billions. It's sickening and quite sad how games how bad mobile games earn billions yet a game like Bioshock Infinite undersold leading to Irrational's demise.

Meant to disagree, but how is a game like PoGo bad? It has people coming together and playing and actually for once moving and exercising. This game has given reports of improving mental health of many people just by walking to places they otherwise may not have. The platform for the game has no bearing on how good a game is.

Also, duh. It's a FREE mobile game that's addictive and awesome. Everyone has a phone. Of course it makes billions. Bioshock requires people to sit on their ass to play after they buy it first at 60 brand new. The microtransaction in the game are completely optional.

The platform certainly has a bearing on the quality of the game. It's a bad game, VITA did this 4 yrs ago. It's a marketing gimmick with microtransactions. How do u think it makes billions? The difference is, Bioshock was worth every penny. I'll take finely crafted games, u take mobile gimmicks.

Yeah I can understand your frustration. As much as we understand it is not fair how so much work put in by other devs get so little rewards. The fact is life is just not fair most of the time.

Poke Go is good in that it has bring a lot of joy to many. However I can't ignore the fact that this will change things for core gaming. Weather its for better or worse we will not know any time soon.

It is understandable to feel like the success of Poke Go will threaten core gaming and will change devs.

However I am a optimistic person. I think Poke Go will expand gaming further and and will get more people in gaming that might move to core gaming eventually. Also the expansion of the gaming market will see more companies coming in and therefore not necessarily take much away from core gaming.
