I like Fallout 4 and I've enjoyed all the DLC up until now. This one is just full of a bunch of useless crap. Granted, there are a few items worth having in it if you want things like the warehouse and boxcar building sets. The red and white barn building sets were included in the Far Harbor expansion and not in the Contraptions expansion as stated in this article. Aside from those there is some really confusing and anti-intuitive conduit sets that I thought would make wiring inside easier but it's a colossal mess. Probably the most useful and desirable item in the expansion is the 2,3 and 4 floor elevators, but I was very disappointed to find that once I put the 4 floor one in my tower made with the concrete building set, that none of the floors line up with it's preset stops. I only tried the 4 floor elevator, but it also would not "snap" into place even though it takes up a normal square floor space so it can make lining it up in a preexisting building a bit difficult. But again all that was for nothing since the 4th floor on the elevator left me with the actual 4th floor of the building at about chest level. I don't know if this is a bug or if it has to do with the slightly odd way some of the building sets are not compatible due to how the floors above the first sit on the first floor walls or what. Either way, the whole mess is a bust.

Oh, and don't get your hopes up about the fireworks either. The RPG from GTA Online was more impressive. Hell, the fireworks in Warframe are more impressive.

Now, BRING ON THE MODS!

Well put mate. I also tried the 4 floor elevator as I wanted to replace my own barn staircase which looked out of place. Bad design. If your gonna use it, then the top lvl would have to be without any doorways and have an open top roof 😞 in the end I settled for scaffolding instead and that takes patience to get it to fit together just right

You didn't want to have paid mods so they decided to sell you their ''mods''

absolute worst dlc offerings from beth out of any game they have ever released... if this is the price i have to pay for having mods that make the console chugg urine and constantly crash the game while corrupting saves at an even more horrendous rate.... yea i'll just take being a console peasant and not have mods at all honestly ... i'd rather have a stable game with great add ons to enjoy then potentially awesome add ons that are unstable as all hell because either the console cant handle it or the infrastructure to put mods onto console isnt good enough.... given how this game is gone i wouldnt be surprised if it was actually more the latter sadly :/

I wouldn't say it's the worst Bethesda DLC. The horse armor is still pretty infamously lame.

worst dlc as a whole... i would say takes it no competition... at least oblivion had the shivering isles, in a time where dlc wasnt as prevalent and it was awesome!

I too agree it's not the best DLC and IMO Bethesda fell short on their"ideas".
I played it long enough to get the 3 achievements and prolly won't touch it again.

1. I have a community full of people with half standing around doing nothing, this would have been great if i could have set whatever contraption up then have my scrounging settler feeding it and others working the conveyors in some sort of way.
2. You need a machine that breaks down the junk and spits out each component.

The only thing i found useful was the mannequins to show off armor, the lighted signs and some of the other building things.
As far as the conduits go, this is a good idea but it should have been released earlier, there is no way I'm going back and redoing hours and hours of work now.

TBH I'm more excited to see what the modding community can come up with out of this DLC.

This whole game was a let down. Needed to be more like new Vegas

How nice of them to give us more control over graphical settings as a way to *completely* avoid taking accountability for the broken Xbox settings.

Well, I still crashed like 5 times last night within two hours. So there’s that.

I had to stop. The game is not good. I'd rather play Skyrim and that game isn't that good either.

I Think It's About Time We Realize Fallout 4 Wasn't That Bad

Ahmed from eXputer: "2015's Fallout 4 received harsh criticism upon launching, but I think it was unwarranted and the game deserves more praise than it got."

helicoptergirl23d ago

It was totally that bad. I couldn't finish the campaign it was so bland and boring as I recall. Got so sick of it. 1000 stimpaks on hard. It is very rare that I play half a game and then just quit. I usually always finish it. But i was so bored with this game I just stopped and never went back and never regretted it. Just thinking about that game makes me shudder

Furesis23d ago

That's exactly what happened to me too lmao
Fallout 4 is not a fallout game period it's a bethesda game

The comparison with Skyrim is mind-boggling. Yes, Skyrim has streamlined many of the systems that Morrowind introduced. However, it did not tamper with the core of the Elder Scrolls franchise; it did not diminish the freedom and sense of exploration that made Bethesda RPGs famous. Fallout 4, on the other hand, did exactly that to the Fallout series. It eliminated what made Fallout such a beloved series to play. There are no consequences for your choices, no reason to explore, and barely any interesting set pieces in the game.

It's not terrible, but it's a painfully mediocre game in a franchise that typically doesn't produce such mediocrity. So that is why people see it as bad, the bar is just much higher.

anast22d ago

They both feel the same because they are, it's just that one has swords and magic and the other has swords and guns.

anast22d ago

I'm replaying it now. It sucks. I'm about 30 hours in and thinking about quitting again. I am so tired of the dialogue I just spam a random button because it doesn't matter. The upgrade just feels like a graphical mod, everything else is not good.

Good-Smurf22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

I couldn't play the game as-is it was insanely boring and grindy and the grind itself are not fun at all.
Mods helped me stomach the game a bit better but after a while I just stopped playing and uninstalled it because the game did nothing after the first few hours to give me any motivation to keep playing it, it just became a mindless looter shooter with obsession in settlement building and defending.
Compared to F3 and FNV, F4 was barely a mediocre game it wasn't bad but it's also very forgettable entry.

MrDead22d ago

It's not that bad after 300+ mods that fix it's issues and make the game fun... but lets not talk about mods right now as they are f****d.
