Well from the trailer it looks like they have a style mode where they make closer to devil may cry games. I like the game but it will be nice on how they changed the combat. Especially being 60 fps will be a change by itself. I think it's funny how u guys say about the story was bad. Others had lack of story also. I thought this new one had more story than the others but the older ones did a better job of Dante being a bad a$$. Especially Devil May Cry 3. Still one of the best cinematic choreographed fight scenes ever.

I wanted to see awesome fight scenes more than the story for devil may cry 3. First cutscene blew me away. And still to these day to. And we can't forget the scene were he jumps off the building. And the one girl which I don't remember here name were she is throwing her weapons in the air reloading and all this stuff happening. Great stuff.

the reviews for dmc were in the mid 80's not sure how one could conclude everyone hated it. but then again the gaming community is quite vocal about things they dont agree with and many spend more time trash talking than saying anything positive.

what i will say is this shows signs of how the gaming market is unwilling to take chances. its why we see so many cross gen games like destiny because they fear of selling to a low install base. it also explains why we are seeing so many remasters and re-releases while the hardware is getting away from backwards compatibility. making games is very expensive and they cant charge $100 a game so they take less risks and charge more other ways.

exactly, it was the catalyst, and therefore the very reason why people got upset. and no... complaining about a video game's artistic direction is not a right.

and of course it's the reason they stayed upset! it wouldn't have mattered how amazing the gameplay was (and it was pretty well-received by just about every critic), their minds were already set simply because dante didn't look like the dante they were used to seeing, long before any gameplay surfaced, and even accessible for people to play.

it's very difficult for anyone to go into something with a pre-conceived bias towards a game, and come out of it saying, "you know, that was pretty good." you're going to go into it, already thinking it's a piece of garbage, and try to find any little thing you can find in order to artificially justify your belief that the game is bad. things like, "oh, it's not 60fps" or "oh, it's press X to win" are all moot when you've already gone into it with a negative attitude. there's a reason why you would generally not get selected to be a part of a jury if you already have a pre-conceived bias against the defendant - because no matter what evidence is presented, you're probably still going to think he/she's guilty. oh, and just so there's no confusion - any reference to "you" in this paragraph is meant in the general sense, not you personally...

Nope, it is a right. If it was a new IP then fine, do whatever you like with the game but if you're making a reboot, you should be aware that you're changing a game which already has a fanbase. Dragon explained it pretty well with his Mario example but you ignored and didn't address that. It is not a good move to mention critic scores of this game as well, as we all know about some leaked posts on social media which hinted at them buying good critics. About the rest of your post on being biased, when I saw the first trailer of DmC I felt excited to play it cause honestly, to me after 3 DMC 4 felt weak in story and since they introduced Nero I thought that it was time for a change cause they obviously had no idea how to go on with it. I felt alright with Dante's new model but the the gameplay surfaced. No lock on, enemy types demanding weapon types, 60 fps which was a huge deal as some awesome combos from DMC 3 and 4 required this. Then the butchering of character personalities, I mean...Vergil saying he's got the bigger d**k...seriously? Then Tameem bashing the old fanbase, even inserting a scene into the game to make fun of people wanting a white haired Dante, but still changing his hair to white towards the end of the game. There's a lot wrong about this game and it isn't only the new character model.

I also loved Heavenly Sword and Enslaved Odyssey to the West. I'm looking forward to the their next game now.

Personally I've no interest in DMC4 but I'll probably get the reboot. I was interested in it when it first released but for some reason didn't get it, there was probably something else I was playing at the time. Pretty sure I'd move onto PS4 by the time is released on PS+ for PS3 also.

I dislike the idea of accepting anything for the sake of and purpose of a franchise living on . It has helped almost no franchise thus far , except maybe Tomb Raider as a reboot and Phantasy Star with the Online version . And those two while vastly different from the original franchises , actually hold up to high standards .

You go through all the levels again only in reverse and fight the same level bosses. It's about as cheap as a design as Dragon Age 2 using the same dungeons over and over again.

That is the only thing that killed an otherwise superb entry in the series.

"Devil May Cry 4" is a good game though it feels repetitive since you're essentially playing all the levels twice, once with the new character Nero and then again with Dante. Overall DMC4 is a good outing with nice visuals, a good story, good audio, and solid play mechanics. Dante's move-set in particular has been simplified, though. Rather than selecting a play style like in DMC3 with all controls revolving around its various move sets, DMC4 give you access to all of Dante's play styles on-the-fly, but reduces his move set to compensate for this ability.

DmC I own but haven't played yet. I've seen what they did to Dante, Vergil, and the story from watching my roommate play much of the game and it pales in comparison to the original, at least in terms of characterization. Will force myself to play it one day, though.

In my opinion the order of DMC games from my fave to least fave is: DMC3 > DMC1 > DMC4 > DMC2 (can't judge DmC as i haven't played it yet). I'd also say that 4 isn't that much better than 2; 4's story and visuals are better while I'd give the overall experience to 2 as the environments feel more varied and I enjoyed the puzzle elements and platforming more.

Yeah DMC4 did end up being slightly dissapointing story wise and Capcom were too lazy with Dante to make flesh him out and have his own set of levels and bosses, but gameplay wise it was sublime. If you played it on PC, with LDK and turbo mode, it was so refreshing. one of my pet peeves from going from DMC3 SE -> DMC4 -> DmC was lack of turbo modes in the latter, and the experience just became less enjoyable.

Overall I want a DMC5. I suspect DMC4 is being rereleased after so long because they might be adding something "Story wise" to make it follow on properly to DMC5, considering there are DMC4 comics which (while not canon) could be implemented to game that could give further drive to the story

I think the gameplay was still very good; different but a good game all around. It gets a lot of flak from some of the fans but I find that's usually from a vocal minority who likely never even finished the original games in the first place and like to run their mouths.

And I wouldn't talk about DMC gameplay, DMC4 in particular is incredibly deep to the point I bet you don't even know what a cancel is, even though it's such a crucial mechanic in fighting games, let alone a distorted combo. That's the problem with the people that defend the reboot, they don't know anything, that's why they defend it.

The battle system of the reboot was pretty much in cruise control. You just mash any button and most if not all combos will link with each other because it's a game made with the purpose of expanding the market of the franchise. It wasn't until now that they will finally add a manual lock system for god's sake. People complained about this stuff from the very beginning you know but many just chose to simplify the argument to: "fans are mad because of the hair".

I love the Devil May Cry series as much as the next guy, but have to laugh at people who cry foul about how DmC changed the character as if the story and characters in the original were deep and meaningful.

The game was always about the cool action and combo's, the story and characterisation were hardly Shakespeare like.

I recall the backlash at the last gen release of DmC and thought it was quite pathetic, with lots of moaning from the ever increasing self entitled keyboard warriors.

It was never given a fair crack and was actually a belting action game that, like the original games, allowed you to string together combos that left you feeling like an utter badass.

Having said all that, I am not convinced that this title warranted a re-release.

i'll personally admit that DmC is a decent game , just not a good DMC imo . The plot and story has always been hilarious and shallow , but DmC wasnt the groundbreaking storytelling experience promised either , as a trade off for a lesser gameplay .

And the gameplay was lesser imo , it didnt add anything particularly original on top of it , but simplified and color coded it for a public that either never demanded it , or simply never cared , or doesnt even exist .

It didnt either do anything spectacular and stylish for the serie when it comes to boss fight either .

Again a good , decent game , but a bad Devil May Cry . Of course feel free to write it off as whining as per usual with the game's defenders .

I never got the chance to play the last DMC game. I do plan on getting it for my ps4. I watched a few DMC youtube vidz and thought it could borrow one ideas from the evil within. I love the demonic screeching sounds the demons make when they die. Hopefully, capcom add the screeching demons sounds(like evil within) in the DMC definitive edition.

The pricing isn't particularly good nor the value. These games are dirt cheap now for pretty much all systems and I don't think there was much demand to see what the games would look like with a little more room to breath on new consoles (as was the case with TLoU which was borderline breaking the PS3).

If they are going to put Devil May Cry on the new systems at least go full-hog and give us a Dante Collection with all 5 games in 1080/60. Now THAT I'd consider buying.

I would really like a DMC game similar to DMC 3. I loved the difficulty and combat. Still the best in the franchise I think. I rank them... DMC3, DMC1, DMC, DMC 4 and DMC2...

DMC 2 was just bad. Good ideas with the power gems with different attributes, and the gold revive gem would revive you on the spot automatically. Very cool. The ideas were poorly executed though and combat was dull. Dante had zero personality and hardly spoke, and the boss fights were lack luster.

Hoping for a DMC 5 with a story like the last game and combat from DMC3.
