Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to Xbox One this year, collects Halos 1-4

Master Chief is getting a facelift with an HD collection of his exploits. We've learned that Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 are being collected in a Master Chief-focused HD remaster coming from Microsoft. Halo 2 is cool. Halo 3 and Halo 4 is literally - again - a key indication as to why there is NO backwards compatibility this gen. Remember, first and foremost these corporations are businesses.

As a business, why would I allow you to play old games when I can re-sell you the SAME disc only prettier?

BC can't go on forever without hindering consoles either in design or by shifting a bunch of resources to make every game run smoothly on it. Want to play an old game? Go buy the system it's on, pay for an upscaled version (if you don't already have the original game - remember, no one has a gun to your head to repurchase an updated version), or wait a couple years to emulate it.

I'll make a statement that pretty much sums up your lack of foresight and logic in this conversation. Foxtrot is spot on, and yet you can't see why. Here we go:

See? You can like people, but hate the cruelty in nature of the world.

You can hate Microsoft, their policies, their treatment of the consumer, their lies, their spin, their PR smoke and mirrors campaigns, their long-term decisions that impact the gamer and gaming detrimentally.... but like myself you can still like the games on offer.

If you have any kind of personal integrity and moral standards, it's possible to criticise one thing but praise other things. It's possible to not let good games get in the way of your morals or enable you to support anti-consumer causes. Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break look like games I would buy if I owned an Xbone, but I won't because of the principle of supporting what Microsoft attempted to turn this industry into.

The decisions Microsoft have made over the past couple of months are very good for the gamer and the consumer... but they weren't made because of those people's sensibilities, and if you didn't have goggles on, you'd be aware of that. They were made because of their performance on the market in comparison to the PS4. Business... not "giving options".

You need to further analyse what you're saying before you say it, or leave yourself.

Not really it is not that difficult to release old games at a higher res. Companies have been doing it like crazy over the years. The only ones that seem to have extra work into them are things like FFX and KH1.5.

Impressive would be every single game redone on the new engine, running 60 fps/ 1080p, all DLC, new features or extras.

Will Gears sell, sure. Is is a system seller, Not really. Especially when you compare its performance at pushing units to Halo. A system sell is a game that sells systems. Judgement gave 360 a slight bump but nothing compared to Halo 4.

If true this is great but i want the games in there original states with better graphics and the multiplayer back and in tact as they where.

I didn't like what 343 did with the Halo CE remake the multiplayer was missing some fantastic maps and i felt the inclusion off the new powers from the later halo games was unnecessary. I think the games only need polish rather than remade.

Yeah a HD remake would do and the Online relaunched on Halo 2. Halo combat evolved throw in the PC online modes and the added maps that that would do nicely.

Personally i still think on xbox Halo and gears offers up the most skilled online play. But when its screwed with to much it can be ruined.

Id have in my x1 collection proudly like that at full price and tbh I'm not a fan off HD remakes. But this would be a case off done right.

I'd like to see this done with the Uncharted series aswell on PS4.

Microsoft is really making some great moves now. I wasn't planning to get an X1 because of the DRM and Kinect but with both of those things rectified I'll seriously considering getting one. I have the WII U now and I'll be getting PS4 in June. I'll probably complete the next gen trifecta by getting the X1 next spring for the Microsoft exclusives Halo, Quantum Break, and whatever else they announce at E3.

halo CE came out in 2001; halo 2 was 10 years ago and so on. thats a little different than a game that came out less than a year ago. the halo series is also one of the biggest in the history of gaming and tons of people didnt get to play them.

This and Halo5 probably the only reason I'd get the new xbox at the moment and that's because nothing really beats the Halo formula

Hopefully if true the Halo1 redone version will feature better draw this time regarding how far off over texture shadow horrifically appears. The pc port of this version of course is fine despite the gun sticking and rotating madly in scenery stuff but it's the enhanced version that they reduced this for 360 on account of it not having quite the grunt to run both old and new without reductions. I would therefore expect extra effort rather than simply taken this existing 360 version. Not that I'm too trusting of 343 given they didn't even notice the shotgun glitch either, having to patch it launch day
