Xbox, Nintendo or PlayStation: does it still matter?

BBC news:

Why the war between the big games console makers may be coming to an end.

"You begin to see that this is an old-fashioned business model, with an old-fashioned motive: money."
Money is "old-fashioned"? Someone hasn't moved out of their parent's basement yet...

LOL, MS straight up said they want to be on as many screens because of Money, but it's ok if they do it, if infinitely smaller companies like Sony and Nintendo want to play their cards close to their chest to even have a chance, and they are actually winning in spite of on paper being the "Lesser" ones, then they are the bad guys?

Birds shooting at shotguns, the world Is upside down.

PS5 and Switch wouldnt be selling this well if they didnt matter.. xbox well it doesnt matter much, and sales show that.

Anybody that believes console exclusives are toxic also doesn’t appreciate the risk the consoles take on investing in such monumental projects.

The medium is richer because of boundary-pushing exclusives like Spider-Man 2 and Last of Us, and Zelda and Mario.

They raise the bar to show what is possible.

Consoles that don’t invest in exclusives don’t care about advancing the medium; they are just frustrated that money doesn’t translate automatically into great games. Ie half a billion dollars couldn’t make Halo Infinite as good as Halo 2.

Crows9091d ago

Yeah most dont have the brain power to discern what you just said.
Xbots cant even realize that exclusivity is the only thing that made xbox even remotely relevant...Halo was exclusive.

RNTody90d ago

Xbox fans conveniently forget that the Xbox itself only became relevant because of the exclusive prowess of Halo, Gears and eventually Forza. It was also the Call of Duty machine with exclusive content.

Yes it does if you take out Xbox. Stop trying to act like MS is doing some favors for people. They are hurting as a division and they are ultra desperate. If they were in PS’s or Nintendo’s position they would not consider this for a second but they are in last place by a large amount and it’s only getting worse for them so they are going for this last ditch effort. I want MS out of the gaming business as they don’t make good games they can’t even handle Minecraft. I won’t give them a dime. But physical Used or nothing

"I want MS out of the gaming business as they don’t make good games"

Or can let ppl play what they wanna play and play what u wanna play instead of losing sleep being a man child about other ppls enjoyment on a different console.

MIDGETonSTILTS1790d ago

Clearly your friends didn’t make you buy two $500 dust-collecting Xboxes because they refused to play Madden and CoD on a PS controller with the left stick in a slightly different position.

I want my $1000 justified by ONE great game. Sony gave me at least a dozen such games in the same time frame.

Flenter91d ago

Not for Xbox but for PS and Nintendo it definitely does 😀

Nyxus91d ago

Looks that way.

"The analysts Ampere estimated that in 2023 there were a total of around 46.5m consoles sold, of which only 7.6m were Microsoft's Xbox."
