Oof I think that's a not idea to do because it screams imo less passion in development but hey that's my view.

I think AI will be a great work horse making games ie; helping with code and bugs etc but I think and hope the story and animations, art is still humans.
I think using AI correctly could reduce gaming development of a 5 year AAA 1st Party game down to 3 years maybe.

solideagle94d ago

using AI to generate code is fine, as I use it to write trivial programs in web development. if they use AI to do everything then it will be a problem...I think Publishers will need to make a review team to see if the whole thing is auto-generated by AI etc or not.

Unknown_Gamer579494d ago (Edited 94d ago )

Since when has MS been passionate about game development? Either way, I do not like that they own so many IPs now, even if they do go third party.

Monopolization and homogeneousity this type of stuff makes harder to come into the industry and make big waves ngl.

Microsoft encouraging programmers losing their jobs to the soulless machine.

CantThinkOfAUsername94d ago

Programming is no longer about writing code. It's about delivering a useful software as a service.

Vengeance113894d ago

Errrrrr... no. Go try telling that to an actual programmer lol You'll get laughed out of the room.

Christopher94d ago

How the heck are you going to deliver software as a service without the software? How?

You essentially just said "Game Pass isn't about developing games, it's about delivering a useful game subscription service."

ApocalypseShadow95d ago

They're all going to use it in the coming years. To what extent where it eliminates jobs is the question.

I'm not scared of AI or robots. How they are implemented in our society to make things more efficient or better is what's the big deal. And who controls them behind the scenes to influence others. Or built to cause chaos, ruin and death. Because we know there are those that will build AI or robots to do that as well.

But I want to see the positive things that come from using AI to build limitless worlds and stories when it comes to games and VR. Anyone that watches Star Trek can see the Holodeck and the AI that controls it can be for good as an educational tool and entertainment. Or, it can also cause harm or even kill you. But it's how it's used that determines what happens.

But even in Star Trek, they still love the live performance of music, written word, theater plays and art done by human beings.

Abriael95d ago (Edited 95d ago )

Using AI to build stories is not using it for good. Stories should be built by developers.

We should not forget that generative AI is pretty literally theft (it plagiarizes human work on a massive scale and just remixes it to make it unrecognizable), and there is no such thing as "ethical" theft.

ApocalypseShadow94d ago (Edited 94d ago )

People build upon someone else's work all the time. If you believe that there's something new under the sun done by someone, you might have to think on that again. Very, very rarely do you see anything new.

Stories are changed around, plot twists that happen in the middle or the end of a story, bad guy turns good in the end, good guy turns bad. It's all been done. But changed again and again by humans that is no different than AI doing it. It just does it faster than humans.

No one wants to see others lose jobs. Including myself. But that's life. We've seen it again and again where humans or animals are replaced by automation or software. And it's going to continue to happen if you like it or not. My job might get replaced. Your writing for a website might get replaced. There's nothing new here.

You also have to assume that everyone is working hard or deserves a job. Some individuals don't work well with others. Some steal. Some are lazy when the boss isn't looking and others have to pick up the slack. Some are industrial spies. Some overwork their employees. Some employees harass other employees. Etc etc. To assume everyone working is good would be naive. There are also those that complain about others taking their supposed "jobs" but in reality, some of these individuals who complain would never do those jobs and think they deserve better or better pay. But complain anyway.

You have to see both sides of it. Just as I have seen that there's good that can be done with AI. Just as there are bad things that can be done with AI.

And, I wasn't the one who disagreed by the way.

Abriael94d ago

There's a massive difference between "building upon someone else's work" via inspiration and literally plagiarizing.

Generative AI literally uses people's work in its training without permission, and just remixes it, so it's a literal content theft.

I'm not even gonna go into the honestly weird rant about people deserving a job.

There are no "both sides." Generative AI is theft and should never be supported.

its more a ploy that programmers lose their jobs

AI will kill creativity. No thanks

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.
