Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5: Which Console is Best For You?

Microsoft and Sony have been promoting their brand, their consoles, and the games that will come with it over the past few months. Some people have been won over by Sony, while some have been leaning more towards Microsoft’s interesting new directive. With that said, which console is the best one for you, as a gamer? Let’s talk about that.

Im a hardware nut so both are best for me. The SX to play my existing library of XB/360/XBO games as well as new SX games to come. And the PS5 to play my library of PS4 (and hopefully previous PS games) as well as the killer PS5 titles on the 'horizon' (wink wink). Dont care about the price at this point.... bring on the new hardware and controllers. I'm planning on spreading my $$ around equally.

Ps5 with my pc, i dont need the xbox at all, but maybe if they get exclusive games down the line that its impossible to play on pc

What was your first console? Do you collect them? Keep them in the same living room?

My first console was nintendo then sega and then it was playstation. But everyone of those consoles were busted some way or the other.(fall, lightning etc)
It was only the ps3 that i sold off to get the ps4.

I recall the excitement ment of my dad giving me his Atari 2600 for my bedroom when I was around 10 years old and I couldn't believe my luck.....that was until I saw what my dad had bought to replace it, the Commodore 64, I could barely believe what I was seeing 😂

I inherited that C64 a few years later and upgraded that to the Amiga which to this day, is still my favourite gaming system. Sadly, I don't have either of these anymore....... I gave them away to relatives when I upgraded to a PC and PS1 in my early 20s.

I don't have my PS1 or SNES anymore, but I do currently have a PS2, PS3 and PS4 along with a WiiU a Switch and a PC all hooked up to my TV. I recently sold the XB1 because it hadn't been switched on it more than 2 years and a friend needed to replace her son's Xbox which had broken.

my first console was pong and then it just went up from there. The first one I bought with my own $$ was the Sega Genesis in 89.

Its actually nice to see that there are quite a few older gamers in here. I started gaming on Atari 2600 and colecovision before jumping to the NES in the late 80s. Never owned a super nes, but one day in 1996 I went to a friends house and he was playing this thing called a Sony play station that he had rented from Blockbuster video. I looked at that grey flip top console and it was love at first sight and I have been a playstation fan ever since. I own an nes, a sega genesis, a N64, a gamecube, a wii, a switch, an original xbox, a ps one, a ps2, 3 ps3's and 4 ps4s (one for each member of my family) and a PSVR.
I will be buying 2 ps5's at launch and 2 more shortly after. Will also buy psvr 2 when it releases. The future of playstation gaming is bright and U R not (red) E.

fair enough, but we still don't know a lot of crucial info about these consoles, specifically around costs, of the console itself and the storage costs. games are going to be huge and 1tb is not even close to being enough.

PS5 then Series X down the road that's how I always worked with an Xbox I skipped most of the 360 because it was an easy bake oven and a disc carver. I skipped the og Xbox and just stuck with Game Cube and PS2 I recently snagged an og Xbox for $10 and there are some impressive games for it.

There are so many great og xbox games that have not been ported. That is how a few of my friends did it. They were mostly PS2 players but they got the xbox years later and were impressed with how well many of its games still hold up today.

I'm aiming for both. I'm really hoping for some good back and forth competition between the two. Plus with the faster hard drives I really want something that surprises me this generation. Hopefully we won't have to wait to long.

I am open to getting an xsx down the line, but that would require MS to release quality AAA exclusives on a consistent basis and to show signs they will continue that support through the entire generation.

After MS's past history and Phil's constant lies and their focus on gamepass I won't hold my breath.

It's a bit early for this considering price point will be a huge factor., for me it's ps5 all the way simply because I can plat most xbox exclusives on my PC. MY unbiased opinion though, I think Xbox is a great console youngsters with limited money.. I wish gamepass was available when I was a teenager.

XSX by or before Halo Infinite - depends on launch price really. If Series S can play older games in at least One X mode quality then maybe that instead.

I'm probably getting both this holiday still. PS5 for sure but with Halo delayed my decision to get the Series X may get pushed. I have Game Pass until 2022 at this point so I still may get it just to play what's on there on Day 1.

For me?

The one with the PlayStation logo stamped on it. That supports a brand new controller to increase immersion and VR day one. Where the focus is on the console and the fan base that enjoys it. Not casuals or other hardware and services that water down and dilute the soup.

And, where NEW games and single player enjoyment is celebrated with quality games. Because the single player community is THE MAJORITY on consoles. And next gen really means "NEXT GEN." Not half gen, quarter gen, cross gen or baby gen.

If you honestly have to ask you should either buy both or neither. The latter especially if you don't have the spare cash.

PS5 for me largely because skipped the PS4. Could use a new BR player and the multimedia upgrade the system represents, but otherwise if BC is solid enough, there's plenty of PS4 I need to catch up with. Gundam versus especially.

That's when, if ever, one becomes available given that I gave up getting hold of a Switch weeks ago...

Do you think ms is going to provide you with AAA exclusive experiences for the whole generation?

Or do you think, because of the nature of the subscription service gamepass and the need to produce lots of content at an increased rate, are you expecting the quality of releases to gradually suffer?

He’s probably thinking that at a really good price he gets over a hundred games, some of them absolute quality AAA 3rd party titles and HOPEFULLY some great 1st party titles down the road, on a rotational basis keeping him/her satisfied. Buy Sony if you want the huge AAA masterpieces that cost £70 a pop or if your happy receiving some great games at a reasonable price every month, already have peripherals within the Xbox eco system, like having the benefit of cloud gaming as an extra to the far superior local gaming experience all in one package then go Microsoft. The hate people give out to other people because of their console preference is baffling. Let there be healthy competition within the industry and a difference of opinion!

Its always been playstation cause they have games, variety and actually support the console with proper top tier AAA.

X might mark the spot for buried treasure but what you will dig up is a bunch of ancient games shined up as the largest launch ever.

Your gamer score doesn’t matter as I can attest to after leaving my 65k score behind on 360. Games become a lot more fun again when you don’t worry about a pointless pile of nothing.

Ps5 is the console for me. They have great momentum going into this generation. I have owned ps1 through ps4. Their consoles have never let me down. They always support their consoles with a variety of exclusives. Most importantly they still believe in single player games, while still being able to play multiplayer multiplats. They will have a few big timed exclusives this time also. Ps5 is my choice.

Xbox Series X for me, I want it mainly for Gamepass as I can play all the Microsoft exclusives the first few months after buying it without spending £200+ for 4 or 5 new games.
Plus I want the most powerful console. Can't wait for a new Forza Horizon further down the line.
Gamepass is amazing value.

From a playstation BC perspective fella I will have days gone, FF, death stranding, gow, spiderman, gts, rachet and clank, detroit, GoW, GoT, tlou pt2, uncharted 4 (dlc) rdr2, metro exodus, Hzd and last guardian to all replay again on ps5 with also a nice new 2.1 hdmi 4ktv.
Don't mean to be a dick but that destroys xbox imo with the amount of actual AAA BC games to play day 1 of ps5 launch?
Obviously it depends on what games you like but from a MS BC perspective I would only really be interested in gears5, ori series, Alan wake and maybe quantum break? Oh and forza

Getting the PS5 (with the disc drive) strictly for Sony's incredible catalogue of single player exclusives and for PS4 games I missed out on that are also single player

Both! Definitely err on the side of Japanese design ethos and PS is/has always been the natural home for Japanese games. But (get those downvotes ready) we actually thought there were some wicked games showcased by Xbox last month. PS is our home country but as collectors of physical games, gotta buy that copy of Everwild, Scorn, Avowed on the Philbox.
