This article made it seem like he was back at Sony. The way they word of this title, desperate for them clicks

MrSec842212d ago

Jack Tretton is a legend, but yeah that's what I thought when reading that headline.

Xb1ps42212d ago

“Desperate for clicks”

I mean.... when you have to compete against posts about “ps4 exclusives that should be on Xbox” and it makes it to n4g hottest news... when it’s not “news”......

I don’t know who posted this or anything but I’ll apologize for him for trying to compete against the stiff competition that takes the top spot..

I don’t like clickbait articles but when it’s about “actual news” I can give it a pass..

Dark_Knightmare22212d ago (Edited 2212d ago )

Yeah I def thought that it’s such clickbait bullcrap

What is with the idol worship with gamers?

Stop...he is a normal human.

get over yourselves.

-Foxtrot2212d ago

It's not worshipping...it's just a bit of praise since the industry are full of so many high and mighty suits stuck up their own ass

rsnotz2212d ago

Interesting how you've conveniently separated yourself from "gamers". Get over yourself first, I swear your heads gonna explode like a pumpkin soon

rainslacker2212d ago

Because of this.

"“A lot of the time, [outside investors are] looking strictly at the financial return and they want to get it as quickly as possible. We want to play the long game; it’s not about the first title we sign. It’s not about the first developer we work with. It’s about building something for the long term. The ideal relationship with a developer is that they feel like they now have a source for management guidance and investment, and they don’t have to spend their time chasing down money; they can focus on what they’re good at.”"

This is the what many of us in the community want the industry to understand. Not chase after what's popular and can bring the most return, but what can build something great.

That to me is worth supporting and raising up on a pedestal.

All executives are pretty much full of shit.

They are held up by the people directly under them. In every blue chip I've ever worked or consulted for this has been the case.

I’ll never understand people that think of other people like that.. sure I might say oh shit it’s such and such.. wouldn’t mind a handshake maybe even a pic together if possible.. but to go all nuts and refer to someone as god or legend or my hero is a bit...... whoa..... like c’mon it’s not like my life changed, they didn’t save my life or put a million dollars in my account to get all super excited..

isarai2212d ago

Yeah a ways back on an IGN interview after he left he mentioned he'd still like to stay in the industry and was dabbling here and there on some funding/production projects

Father__Merrin2212d ago

Legend. Absolutely loved Sony E3 with Jack heading the presentation. Good times on the ps3

Evolve2212d ago

Disruptor PS1, a pre Goldeneye console FPS from 1996 (with Command and Conquer type FMV cutscenes) and the first game by a pre Spyro Insomniac Studios directed by Mark Cerny. A good game for its time, and pre Bioshock use of telekinesis type powers. A game sadly almost completely lost to time

PrimeVinister40d ago

I have never even heard of it, so that must be a deep cut. Sounds really interesting and I might dig it out :-)

PrimeVinister40d ago

@Cacabunga A classic, no doubt. But, fondly remembered by many.

Cacabunga40d ago

First one was so good but second one on another level!!!
Still hoping to see a next gen version..

PrimeVinister40d ago

@Cacabunga Yeah, I preferred II for the real-timier combat. I would love to see both remade or remastered.

on_line_forever40d ago

We need to bring back the golden era of ps1 & ps2 .
We need to see quality games developed with alot of passion to make gamers satisfied .
We need to benefit from new AI technology to bring something new to games something like " nemesis systems " that used in shadow of morder and upgrade it to next level

PrimeVinister40d ago

The economics of games has changed a lot since the PS1 and PS2. As much as I would love a return to those days, it's not not at all likely.
