HYPE!
This means the game isn't far at all from release. hoping march 2018 (it would avoid the big games in that case)

MegamanXXX2556d ago

I truly believe this game will release this fall

zivtheawesome2556d ago

I prefer sonys current tatic of a strong Q1 with letting the big 3rd party handle fall. This would increase GOW's sales and would let Q1 be an awesome season yet again

BlakHavoc2556d ago

When has Sony shown a commitment at all this gen to releasing their big AAA games during the fall? It's gonna be a 2018 release.

Critic4l_Strik32556d ago

That'd be awesome for sure. Only thing is that GOW games releases have been in March

thekhurg2556d ago

ziv - it's not going to impact sales whether it releases tomorrow, in the fall, in the winter, the spring or next summer.

It's God of War. It'll sell.

starchild2556d ago

I think it could be released this fall. But if not it seems we'll probably be playing this by next spring at the latest. I can't freaking wait. I've beaten all the God of War games and loved them, but I'm really glad they're taking the series into Norse mythology, which I've always found fascinating.

yomfweeee2556d ago (Edited 2556d ago )

To everyone questioning this logic, Sony has released many exclusives in the fall. They don't wait until the spring. They release when it is ready. Driveclub, Last Guardian, KoF 14, UC Collection, Until Dawn are all major titles released August or later. Many other smaller titles too.

They will release when it is ready.

They may want a big title to go against Scorpio too. How embarrassing would it be for Microsoft to claim to have the most powerful system, but then GOW looks better than anything they can offer.

Goldby2556d ago (Edited 2556d ago )

Yano honestly think it'll be released around if not the same week as Scorpio is released.

What better way to counter a console that plays 3rd party really good with a really awesome 1st party title

IamTylerDurden12556d ago

Rumors previously stated Days Gone would release in 2017, i think either GoW or Days Gone will release this holiday alongside Gran Turismo Sport and Hellblade.

I predict an August or September Hellblade release.

An October Gran Turismo Sport release.

A November Days Gone or God of War release.

I also predict a soft PSVR relaunch this holiday that includes at least a few hundred thousand units in stock and some E3 game announcements and holiday 2017 dates on new and previously announced PSVR games.

All in all, Sony looks to have a strong potential holiday lineup that doesn't solely rely on 3rd party.

Ceaser98573612556d ago

The game will release on 2018.. The Lead actor did change the year from 2017 to 2018 on his twitter about me section..
A big AAA game like this wont release during fall since to many heavy third party games releases around that time and Sony is marketing most of them...

rainslacker2556d ago

Between this and GT, it seems like a good "answer" to Scorpio. Two of Sony's biggest and most recognized IP's, which have always moved systems.

Still wonder if they have something else big for this year. Would love Spider-man to come out as well. I know they have the UC spin off, but not sure how much they're going to try and market that. Of course, Sucker Punch is still an unknown, and I'm probably most curious about what they have to show. Looking forward to seeing more of what we know, but it's like SP new IP keeps being forgotten.

morganfell2555d ago (Edited 2555d ago )

Cory Barlog was able to play through GoW last December. Despite most, not all, but most GoW titles releasing in the spring this isn't the PS3 era Sony and there is every chance and reason for the game to release this fall. And Sony is hanging a banner so they can advertise next year?

DigitalRaptor2554d ago

@ morganfell

http://www.dualshockers.com...

Sony did the same huge banner ad for Horizon in the run up to E3 last year.

It's safe to say God of War will be March 2018.

zivtheawesome

yeah i think

god of war
detriot
spiderman
yakuza 6

imagine first 4 months with these 4 exclusives, even though spiderman IP is so big that it can release at any time and sell

MrSec842556d ago (Edited 2556d ago )

IMO it makes sense for Dreams, Days Gone and Detroit to launch in Q1/2, I'd forgotten about Yakuza 6, those 4 will probably be out early 2018, Spidey, Knack 2, God of War and GT Sport would all do fine releasing September to December 2017 because most are well established brands, plus very different games from the major AAA 3rd party stuff coming this fall.
Maybe Knack 2 gets moved to Jan to give things a bit more space, but it's pretty different from anything else coming Q3 or 4 this year.

If we look at what could be coming in 2018 and 2019 or even 2020 (assuming PS5 doesn't come until 2020) Sony could probably have a good 7 major releases per year, they probably need to release a game or 2 every month from September onwards this year to make room in their bank of coming titles releasing later down the line.

It's pretty crazy what could be released after June 2018, tonnes of devs already released PS4 games and have been busy on their next games.

rainslacker2556d ago

I'd love Spider-man this year, but you are right, that's a big IP that can be released to counter anything the competition may be offering up. Although I think Sony will just release it when it's ready, or maybe if some other spider-man related media is releasing, although haven't been keeping up with that.

Kyizen2555d ago

I think stacking games fall/holiday is bad idea that Microsoft keeps doing. When yoi got huge 3rd pary releases and you launch your huge 1st party game gamers are going to have to choose. That and MS then has nothing the rest of the year when 3rd party is quiet...

XStation4pio_Pro2555d ago

I bet it's sooner than that. I'm hoping holiday 2017.

TheCommentator2555d ago

Maybe they can celebrate the game with a God of War themed feast! Can you imagine how cool that would be? I'm sure it won't offend anybody... again!!!

Having gone back to the GOW series to resist the hype for this one, I still cant believe all the hate Ascension got. It is one of the top in the series to me.

With that said, Santa Monica has yet to dissapoint. My expectations for this one are high. Gimme now!

Kratos02892556d ago

As a God of War fan I liked Ascension didn't love it the first half after the hecatoncaries battle really slowed down the pacing of the first half, the second half is great my other gripes is the combat by locking combos behind the rage meter, the story never took the series anywhere and my biggest gripe...changing the parry from a well timed quick L1 to L1+ X with a terrible animation to boot all in all Ascension was a game that did not need to be made

mkis0072556d ago

I agree with your parry remarks. Bad decision.

Adexus2556d ago

I thought Ascension was alright, but it really didn't stand up to the other games for me

2556d ago
rainslacker2556d ago

Not being the biggest GOW fan...I liked it alright, but don't eagerly anticipate it....I did like ascension almost as much as the others. I have to say, given the change in direction with the new one though, I'm actually really excited about it. Christopher Judge is actually a very good actor, and my biggest critiicism of GOW has always been it's rather simple story with what I felt was a character who wasn't terribly dynamic. This one looks to remedy that. While I wouldn't mind if they kept the original game play, as it was always great, I'm not upset about the change there.

FernDiggidy2553d ago

GOW 3's combat is so much better than Ascension's.

Yaaaas! A 5-10 minute gameplay demo with a release date in the bag.

Kingthrash3602556d ago

With all the floor space might be playable

BlakHavoc2556d ago (Edited 2556d ago )

Maybe. I don't recall whether or not Horizon was playable after E3 last year or not. Either way I think there'll be some previews of the game sometime this year.

Nyxus2556d ago

This means it will have a big presence at the show.

Rimeskeem2556d ago

It will have a Godly presence at E3

Silly gameAr2556d ago

Might even have a playable demo. That wold be cool.

UCForce2556d ago

Day Gone and God of War will go out in big way.

Can FSR 3 frame generation deliver the 120fps dream on PS5 and Xbox?

Frame generation technology has arrived on consoles, amplifying frame-rates and potentially transforming experiences.

adds between 8.3-15.3 milliseconds of latency on the game they tested, - no thanks

darksky18h ago

Base latency is 130.8ms and frame gen takes that up to 139.1ms. A 7% increase in latency is hardly a deal breaker.

Zenzuu17h ago

That's hardly a deal breaker and not really noticeable. Even the folks at Digital Foundry said so as well.

darthv721d 11h ago

Impressive results... sadly I don't have a 120hz display. I was thinking this technique could increase fps on any game that supports it regardless of the display.

purple1011d 11h ago (Edited 1d 11h ago )

I have a vrr telly in the lounge,

On another point, what if it were the other way around where the developer aims for higher fps, then used something like pssr to make the resolution higher, that might be better?

Any which way, PS5 pro sure looks interesting now, being they have already doubled frame rate, with JUST just this fsr3.0

sagapo16h ago

It’s up to dev’s to implement FSR 3 support tho but most probably will I guess (hope).

Eonjay2h ago

Yes it would increase the framerate but it would add more noticeable latency. The impact of latency goes down the more natural frames produced. So a monitor that can push bast 60 will naturally allow the game to operate much smoother. Add VRR to this and now you have a much more enjoyable experience.

BlackDoomAx18h ago

Can it deliver the 60fps dream?

purple1018h ago(Edited 8h ago)

no, it delivers approx 80fps.

which is why I say why not target 60fps with this new tech and use the upscaling pssr, (Sonys version of Nvidia's DLSS, that seems so popular in the pc realm)

then we have best of both, better believe ps5pro will be doing all the above.

andy8517h ago

Now I've extensively tried it I'm not too fussed about 120 fps. Give me a locked 60 and more details and I'm more than happy

anast13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

120 is a bit slow. My eyes can't look at anything less than 260fps.
