Sure Sony … for the players we get it.
I have now officially gotten off ps + for the first time in 10 years

darthv72219d ago

If anything we will start seeing more PC releases in a shorter window from the console release. Then that window will get smaller and smaller until both console an PC release will be at the same time. Once they do that, they will do their big releases day one on PS++. Until then, it is mostly smaller titles that they will do the day one release for.

crazyCoconuts219d ago

Um, you got all that from a price hike? Wow

darthv72219d ago

^^...you'd have to be crazy to think otherwise.

hey, wait a minute....

Gamingsince1981218d ago

You would have to be crazy to think they would do that, why would they want the terrible sales that xbox have ? That's what would happen copying that stupid strategy, they know where the bread is buttered.

S2Killinit218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

Isnt gamepass more expensive after it also raised its price?

Also, I love PS+ the way it is. Because it provides the same things gamepass does but doesnt effect quality of first party games. I dont like to limit myself to what is available on a service, therefore it doesnt make sense for me to back MS business strategy that leads to bad first party games.

The price increases, Im not happy about but unfortunately MS is pushing ahead with service-only model, and Sony has to match the quality of their service, thus the equivalent price increase.

S2Killinit218d ago

@Darth
Looking at Sony’s day one games so far, they are of equivalent quality to what MS is/has been offering so far.

The only difference is that MS literally advertised “Day One” in such a way that people still think they are getting tons of day one releases. In reality they were getting two titles per year (if that) and it wasn't even great games.

Take a google search. Its easy.

Also Sony’s strategy is less disruptive and better for the quality of gaming because they choose their day one games on a case by case basis.

TheEroica218d ago

I'd take Playstation games day 1 on PC! What I won't do is buy a PS5. Just give me the games from everything on PC and I'm good.

Petebloodyonion218d ago

@s2kilinit
I fail to see how MS is creating illusions of having several day 1 release or how the quality is affected by this.
1) One Gamepass usually offer aound 30 % of Xbox day 1 release games each months
Yes not all of them are AAA games or games never offered elsewhere but they are still Day 1 games.
Let's just take the current month:
- The Lamplighter’s League
- Forza Motorsport
- Warhammer 40 000 Darktide
- Cities Skylines 2
- From Space
- Mineko’s Night Market

All of them are Xbox day 1 game (Pc for Cities Skylines)

As for Qualities goes aside Redfall care to name the several DUDS Microsoft published on Gamepass? (I'm pretty sure that what you were alluding too).

Forza Motorsport (85 meta)
Starfield (83 meta)
Hifi Rush (87 meta)

FinalFantasyFanatic218d ago

I actually wonder if Sony trying to compete with Game Pass is partially responsible for the price increase? I'm sure inflation would have increased it marginally anyway, but adding those extra games to Extra/Deluxe may be the lion's share of the price increase.

“Sure Sony … for the players we get it.
I have now officially gotten off ps + for the first time in 10 years”

Thanks Optimus. And you’ve been a loyal xbot for all those 10 years too.

On topic. Sony will need to prove the value is sufficient for the new price. I’m sure they know that.

FinalFantasyFanatic218d ago

Aren't they adding in the Sony/Bravia streaming services for the higher tiers? I guess that kinda helps, I'm still sticking with essential though (I think I have 3 or 4 years worth saved up).

OptimusDK218d ago

I’m not loyal to any box and have been around since ps1 and Amiga before that. So what’s that for you now I have both Xbox and Sony but I am dropping the ps plus sub the value is not there any more.

Babadook7218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

You’re welcome to comment on why you don’t like Sony (as you’ve always done through the years) but expect it to draw equal criticism from those who observe a pattern of bias in favor of what appears to be a very inferior product. Everyone will draw their own conclusions.

Also note that MS is very rich and is known to pay for astroturfing so scepticism is certainly due.

Phoenix76218d ago

Optimus
I have now officially gotten off ps + for the first time in 10 years

I have serious doubts about that claim, especially after viewing a few pages of your comment history. Your bias against Sony is evident.

Petebloodyonion218d ago

I fail to see sow his opinion toward Sony should decide his financial decisiions about owning or not a service.

Babadook7218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

@Pete

It's not his financial decisions that are being questioned. It's how persuasive his public declarations of those opinions are. IE; does it seem 'like the comments of a shill'? Most of the first comments here seem to be outrage of Sony by known xbox shills. Pretty hilarious when you think about it. 😂

OptimusDK217d ago

So what - I do criticize Sony when they are full of it. With the 70 USD price hike, the ps plus, the buying of 3rd party games where they take games away from the competition, pay for games not comming to the competition and they always get away with it. There is so much double standard that it is crazy.

But there is one thing, that I can not criticize Sony for - that is the game quality. They are top notch and i love the single story games that they have perfected. But as a company and for their arrogance I really do not like them. And i will critisize them for that.

Orpheo218d ago

I cancelled my PS+ subscription as well. I was grandfathered in at $60 price for the year at the beginning of this month, so I have about a full year to play through all the Plus games to create some memories before cycling back to owned content.

bluefire9016218d ago

Same here. i canceled playstation plus for the first time in 14 years. I have felt so betrayed. +30% price increase at one time is unbelievable. I did the math such that i know Playstation now matches xbox game pass pricing model. However, for a 14 year subscription the benefits were always lack luster, we all subscribed simply to play online and have PSPlus discount, the free games per month were always disappointing or been there done that. I am now subscribed to only xbox for game pass. If i want to purchase a tilte, ill purchase from the playstation store as ill always be a die hard playstation preferred kind of player.

TheEroica218d ago

Me too... I cancelled a year ago when they changed the tiers. I knew I was getting yanked along in a new ruse I'd like not get value from. Pass.

Mrbearbear944218d ago

@OptimusDK

Right there with ya. Unless I see something worth getting, I won't bother to renew

Abear21218d ago

Same, day one since launch of PS3 here and the lack of must play games since then is comical. No way I’m paying full price or getting anything besides Essential tier. PS is more about single player exclusives and paying for online is a joke when I hardly play online and they only allow access to shovelware anyway. I won’t miss access to my PS Plus library and that is just sad but true.

Bobertt218d ago

Same Sony has gone downhill under Jim Ryan hopefully whoever takes over after him next year fixes it.

neutralgamer1992218d ago

I am so glad I am done with consoles. As a long time PlayStation fan and I like Xbox but the greed on consoles is just too much. I am a noob when it comes to PC games yet fellow gamers have been awesome in helping and I am loving it

Not looking back

CobraKai218d ago

Yikes!!! $80 usd for basic plus. I think i’m out too. Unless i see a Black Friday deal which would now just be regular price

Trilithon218d ago

I too am off ps+ for the first time in 10 years. Just hasn't been worth it lately. Reminds me of Netflix hiking their price. Cancelling that next.

CobraKai218d ago

There’s no good content for Netflix’s hike, which makes it worse.

So PS+ subscriptions had a massive price hike up to 40% and Sony will not even improve on the games offerings (never mind day one releases) because they´re simply "adjusting to market conditions"?

What a bunch of greedy scumbags! Smdh.

If that´s what it means for being at the Top, I rather stick to Xbox where it is now than be screwed by MS´s greedy f****rs, paying more for an inferior gaming service.

Jin_Sakai219d ago

Every company is raising subscription prices not just them but I know you love to feed off Sony.

porkChop219d ago (Edited 219d ago )

Weren't you just calling out Apple for raising the price of Apple Arcade?

"These companies still acting like we’re in a pandemic. What’s the excuse now?"

But when it's Sony your response is that everyone is doing it? Seems like a double standard, no?

Obscure_Observer219d ago

@Jin_Sakai

Every company is raising subscription prices not just them but I know you love to feed off Sony.

Yeah... you were saying?

"These companies still acting like we’re in a pandemic. What’s the excuse now?"

You deserve the all the crap Sony is throwing at you.

Jin_Sakai218d ago

@porkChop

“But when it's Sony your response is that everyone is doing it? Seems like a double standard, no?“

Please show me where I said Sony rasing the price was a good thing.

blackblades218d ago

Well porky he's not wrong, Netflix did raised there again.

porkChop218d ago

It doesn't matter whether you say it's good or not. You call out other companies while deflecting or making excuses for Sony doing the exact same thing. It doesn't matter how you try to spin it, that's a double standard.

@blackblades

You're missing the point. I'm not saying other companies aren't raising prices.

Jin_Sakai218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

@Obscure_Observer

“You deserve the all the crap Sony is throwing at you.“

Could say the same about all the crap games Microsoft is throwing at you.

Profchaos218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

That's true but not by the margin don't just did they jacked it 40 percent I'm a top tier subscriber I'm pretty annoyed I already felt I want getting value and what they actually promised hasn't really been delivered zero new PS2 games to date and the retro tier is mostly remasters which I don't agree should quality

InUrFoxHole218d ago

Please tell me what your response to the price hike is? Are you going to continue to support it, cancel a month or 2? What are you going to do to show sony this is a bad thing in your view?

Do you think ms wanted to do day one titles on gamepass , nope it was pure desperation.

I'm perfectly fine with ps titles not being day one, it makes sense they can't afford to take the hit like ms can.

Far as ps plus going up sure it looks so bad at a perce Tage but when you actually look at dollars it didn't go up much at all, keep that same energy and enthusiasm when ms increases their price to.

Even with the sub services they could disappear tomorrow and alot of ps fans would be alright. I prefer buying and owning anyway. Xbox players would be lost, cause in ms words games sales aren't good over there.

Clown sh dude

Obscure_Observer219d ago

"Do you think ms wanted to do day one titles on gamepass , nope it was pure desperation."

Lies! We know of day one first party games on Gamepass since it was first announced!

I remember fanboys on N4G telling us how it would never happen! How MS wouldn´t ever allow their big franchises like Halo, Gears or Forza to be day one on a gaming service!

According to armchair fortune tellers on N4G, Gamepass would be nothing but an indie/GaaS shovelware, that day one first party AAA games would never make it to the service because it´s not sustainable and blah blah blah.

It´s been five years now and Gamepass is the most successful gaming service on the market! Even the hypocrites who said day one AAA first party games would never be available on the service are subscribers now, they´ll crap on the service and its games but the hypocrites just wont´t quit! Crow has been served!

"I'm perfectly fine with ps titles not being day one, it makes sense they can't afford to take the hit like ms can."

I understand that they can´t take most risks MS is willing to take. But Sony is just too greedy! I mean, they could make those games available sooner, but no. They can´t be bothered to even let old first party games remain available on the service.

They made the scummiest move by removing Spider-Man from the service so PS5 players would have no choice but buy Spider-Man 2.

"keep that same energy and enthusiasm when ms increases their price to."

You won´t see me here defending or sugar coating their crap if they ever try to enforce a whooping 40% price hike bs on us. Mark my words!

"I prefer buying and owning anyway."

So you´re not a PS+ or Gamepass subscriber, right? RIGHT?

Gamingsince1981218d ago

No one is gonna copy MS and gamepass , its a commercial failure and even MS says asuch, Sony would be suicidal to think that's a good idea. Gamepass sucks and so does most of the content on it. Anyone thinking it's the future of gaming will have another thing coming when MS drop out in 2 years.

Profchaos218d ago

@obscure actually I was subbed to gp on launch and we got more third party titles as day 1 like outer worlds I actually recall recent games not coming to GP from ms like at the time Forza horizon 3 ( the best one) from memory it wasn't initially day one for everything garunteed that came shortly after launch

crazyCoconuts219d ago

Yeah, so greedy to raise their annual rates.
Did Xbox raise their annual rates?
Oh...wait. they DONT HAVE annual rates?
Because they want to bleed you dry with more expensive monthly rates?

gold_drake218d ago

Kornholic218d ago

Sony can't operate PS on a loss unlike MS's Xbox Division. Offering AAA titles day one on subscription services is not financially feasible.

Gamingsince1981218d ago

MS can't afford it either hence why Phil the liar Spencer said it's all over with soon, by 2027 lol

Barlos218d ago

Can't wait for you to say the same thing when GP gets a hike. Got to pay that $70 billion somehow haven't they?

But we all know you won't, you love Xbox and you love kissing Phil's ring.

Honestly the level of shill with you is embarrassing. You know they don't care about you right?

MrNinosan218d ago

And still after price hike, it's cheaper payong yearly (which most subscribers are) and offer more games, both praised and lesser known, than GamePass Ultimate.

S2Killinit218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

Every PlayStation Studios game available now on Windows PC

Windows Central writes: "Many PlayStation Studios games that are ported to PC get dedicated PS5 DualSense support, which allows users to experience haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support without actually having to own a PS5.

According to Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, it's still the company's intent to launch the bigger single-player games on PS5 first, before later bringing the games to PC. This might not be the case for multiplayer games however, which are considered okay to launch simultaneously on console and PC."

Very very early in development. Still, fantastic news!

Let´s GO!!!

Lightning771d 4h ago

I guess.

How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )

At least it wouldn't be MS of all ppl destroying them.

MS really should let go Tango go like they did TFB here.

darthv721d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

one was under Bethesda (Tango) the other under Activision (TFB). Clearly each one handled the separations of their subordinates differently.

Obscure_Observer1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

"How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )"

Perhaps because Zenimax and ABK handles such matters differently based on their own internal policies as "independent" publishers.

Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future. Which could also be the reason why they ensured an exclusive partnership with TFB and its new game, before anyone else.

Sad and disgusting. But it is what it is.

Lightning7723h ago(Edited 23h ago)

"Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future."

MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB.

It's inexcusable, they have options on how to handle studios they don't want anymore with killing jobs. Not just MS but the rest of the industry also.

Sad and disgusting sure how many will get shut down next year or this year even?

I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another.

Obscure_Observer16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

"MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB."

Imo, MS separated from TFB because they didn´t had a game associated with Xbox yet, unlike Tango.

"I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another."

Fair enough. It was indeed an epic dumb move from them to close Tango.

Still, all to be forgotten, like always have. This is not the first time a big publisher shuts down a beloved and/or successful studio out of nowhere and certainly won´t be the last. Do you remember Lionhead? Do you remember Evolution Studios? Yeah... both were beloved studios and yet, those companies kill those studios in q blink of an eye and got away with it.

anast13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

The studio boss made some money from this transaction. Once the game releases, the studio will get chopped up.

Okaaaaaay...

darthv721d 4h ago

Id venture a guess that TFB working directly with MS was a better outcome than working through Activision to get to MS.

VersusDMC1d 2h ago

From the article...

"Toys for Bob spun out as an indie back in February after Microsoft instituted sweeping layoffs that impacted 86 employees, which was more than half of the staff"

I doubt those 86 employees enjoyed the Microsoft experience over Activisions.

Inverno1d 1h ago

MS shuts down studios because of lack of resources and then helps these guys by giving em resources. Also MS is what forced them to buy their freedom in the first place? What kind of logic 😂

Chevalier22h ago

The best thing is that the company that is worth $3 trillion and owns the company instead of Xbox lacks resources. How the hell does a company worth $3 trillion making a measly $70 billion purchase they 'can't' support. Lol

BlindMango4h ago

The reason they would need to "partner with Microsoft" is simply to make a game that's part of a franchise that Microsoft owns. Meaning they're probably going to make a new Spyro game - they're still an independent studio, but are making a game in a franchise that Microsoft owns. It's kind of like Remedy partnering with Rockstar to be able to make the Max Payne remakes.

shinoff21834h ago

It was probably the deal to get released from Ms

Sciurus_vulgaris1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

Xbox’s gaming division seems to still function as 3 semi-autonomous sub-divisions, Xbox Studios, Bethesda and ABK. The three main sub-divisions can seemingly shut down or build studios and set up partnerships independently. This would explain why Bethesda can recently shutdown studios, while ABK spins off one studio, while building a new one. Plus, Toys for Bob could be spun off by ABK, only to immediately re-partner with Microsoft.

Chevalier22h ago

That's absolutely 💯 BS. Any sane 'autonomous' company would NOT put their games on Gamepass day 1 like COD will lose probably billions.

Also they're all under Xbox game studios so any autonomy is an illusion.

PhillyDonJawn10h ago

No, I'm sure MS can and does step in when they want something done specifically but I'm also sure they let them also work independently

shinoff21834h ago

I highly highly doubt this. Ms controls all. The guys aren't gonna be allowed to just shut something down like that without approval. No way
