Outer Wilds PS4 Review - PlayStation Universe

From PSU: "Tapping into that most primal of urges (no, not that one), Outer Wilds perfectly encapsulates and enables the human desire for exploration and discovery. Indeed, Outer Wilds is a space-bound odyssey which is all about that pioneer spirit – the notion of pushing past and out of your default comfort zone into the unknown where possibility and peril abound in equal measure."

Jin_Sakai1670d ago (Edited 1670d ago )

Am I the only one read that as Outer Worlds?

VenomUK1670d ago

Same. What's adds to the confusion is the press coverage of both as The Outer Wilds is released this week!

Name Last Name1669d ago

On topic. This is one of the best games I played all year on XB1.

Germaximus1670d ago

I think it every single time I see the name of this game.

Relientk771670d ago

Everytime I see news on this game I confuse it with Outer Worlds

TheGoodestBoi1670d ago

Nope and this is not the first time I've done this either 😔

ThanatosDMC1670d ago

Nope. That's the reason why I clicked.

froy4021670d ago

Just relised it by reading your comment :)

Orionsangel1669d ago

Earlier this year when these games were being talked about I got the titles confused.

Speaking of what ever happened to WILD I think it was called... that PS4 exclusive? Was it cancelled?

It'll probably come out on next-gen as a multiplat.
Michel Ancel is probably one of the worst project leader ever. I wouldn't hold my breath for this game or Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Fist4achin1670d ago

Could be cool. I might have to check this one out.

Jermsallstar1670d ago

It is. This game is like a hidden gem. One of the better games I've played this year. If you're into puzzles and exploration, definitely check it out

Orionsangel1670d ago

How do you pilot the spaceship? I can't reach the planets.

toxic-inferno1670d ago

Get the codes from one if the guys in the observatory. Then return to the starting point and ride the lift up. Get inside the spacecraft, then "buckle up".

Holding R2 will then launch you into space.

Orionsangel1670d ago (Edited 1670d ago )

I know. I did all that. I mean once your in space. How do you control the ship and go fast to reach planets?

yoshatabi1670d ago

Pretty much what toxic said. The controls for flying are weird though. It's hard to get used to it

toxic-inferno1670d ago

If you're having trouble, you can lock onto a planet with L3, then press up (I think) to engage autopilot. The game will then automatically control your ship to get it into orbit.

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis24d ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

anast24d ago

It's worth a play through today.

Outer Wilds is a great game, but it runs like crap on the Series S. Muddy, low resolution and a bad framerate. Definitely deserves/needs an update.

LucasRuinedChildhood515d ago (Edited 515d ago )

They released an updated version a few months ago on PS5 and Series X | S.

It now seems to be a locked 60fps on the S. https://youtu.be/_ejE06fIh9...

MadLad515d ago

Cool. Thanks for the info.
I mainly game on PC, but I travel a lot with my Series S.

Si-Fly515d ago

You should get a Steam Deck, way better to travel with lol

MadLad515d ago

I actually have a Steam Deck, which I do take with me on planes and all that, but I'm usually gone for at least a few days, so I like something that I can just hook up at the hotel and not worry about battery life.

I wish these subscription services would give more notice on this because I really wanted to play Scarlett nexus but just started elden ring. I guess I will have to pause Elden Ring and come back after I finish Scarlet Nexus
