PS4 Pro trade-in program revealed at GAME

The only games you can't take in are Fifa 14 and 15 as they go for next to nothing.

That said, CeX do the console alone for 160 trade at the moment so I'd price match if it's still like that.

If the CeX trade has dropped then go buy the cheapest five (different) games they have and it'll cost you about £20, so it might end up worth it.

Typically for companies like this it's not any game. When I got to ebgames or GameStop they will put a min $8 value on the games you trade in and then they price a lot of them down to $7

Depends. Promos like this they typically don't, but guaranteed XYZ or bonus credit for games that trade in for ABC tend to get it.

In theory, but not in practice. A lot of companies don't price things based off sales/deals/so forth, making it quite easy to turn a profit. A good example was the TIV for Mario Kart 8 not being impacted by the Club Nintendo promotion, where as most informed consumers weren't willing to pay anywhere near as much.

It makes more sense if you actively do it, but there are plenty of sales/promos/deals where you can actually turn a decent profit just buying/flipping games. Like I made $120 profit selling Mario Kart 8 (minus gas and time expenses that I can't really figure) simply because it went on sale, there was a promo and the TIV was still high.

Probably less due to the fees, but the real issue isn't getting $200 for your PlayStation 4, it's that you need to add five games to the mix. According to the article Fifa is excluded and the games need to be different, this means, unless you get really lucky, you're looking at about another $25 and tax expense (cheapest listed on GS for PS4 besides Disney Infinity is $4.99).

So you're almost trading 3/4 the cost for 1/2 and saving the hassle. While this isn't terrible, since the new slim and resellers will hurt the resale value, the real value for companies here are the five games.

For them the thought process is to get good titles for cheap (unless I'm not seeing the part that says minimum). Like if you trade Uncharted Collection and Uncharted 4, they got something worth $27 in credit and that leaves three more games that could or could not be worth more.

Gamestop has the ps4 trade in at 150$ the day of the meeting for ps4 pro. Right after they cut it to 125. Also trying to make it look like its a deal. Xbox one got a 200$ trade in. Why not ps4? Bias much?

They likely can't turn a profit off the system alone at that price.

Pro is $400, half is $200, slim is $300, so they'd need to essentially sell the system for no less than $200 to turn a profit, but can't charge too close to $300 to lose out to people just buying new.

So, to offset the high price/low profit margin, they're asking for games assuming two things will happen. Some people will turn in a lot of low value games (Destiny, The Division, CoD) and others will trade in high value games (Uncharted 4, Uncharted collection, Overwatch, etc) and they make back most of their money from selling the games themselves.
