i have a 4K chrome cast from some years ago, not this white one.
does it support remote play as well?
next question: does PS5 and the chromecast have to be connected to same network?

i will try later and update here if no one has an answer, so people benefit.

Seems to need a specific chromecast though... the 4k model. The one that came with my stadia controller is not adequate.

I'm curious to hear from anyone here that gives this a try. What's the lag feel like and are all the DualSense features supported?

SICKINDIVIDUAL260d ago

It mirrors your PS5 on your local network just like remote desktop on PC...virtually lag free.

BlackDoomAx260d ago

Until now remote play had lag. How is this different?

Kosic260d ago

I'm confused to why Sony allowed this... if they're wanting to push Playstation portal, then surely selling the ability to do this doesn't make any sense? Only Google benefits from this....?

crazyCoconuts260d ago

They've had remote play across multiple OSs for ages. Only benefit Sony gets from this is happier customers that hopefully stick with PS. This isn't a direct money steam

For sometime, I'd been contemplating getting a Shield to replce my Steam Link hw as the Shield is a more capable 4K/60 device for streaming. Happy they notified us before I finally decided to pull the trigger on getting one.

You can still stream using the shield just not natively, you'll have download and use the stream link app on the shield.

They likely are not supporting it natively to save money on developing and maintaining the feature and letting valves app do it instead.

I hope this doesn't end the Moonlight service functionality
